The Gales Ministry Update
August 28, 2023
Dear Family and Friends,
So much has happened since our last newsletter. Two of our grandsons got married. Andy “Bug” Galli (Mel and Annie’s youngest) who is in the US Army in Georgia was finally able to get married to his high school sweetheart in July. If you remember, we flew back for his graduation from US Army Ranger school and for his wedding. However, due to a misunderstanding of Army regulations, he was unable to get married at that time.
Asher (Jason and Shelli’s oldest) got married just last week in Knoxville, TN. We flew back for the wedding, which I also officiated. It was a quick trip but a wonderful time reuniting with family and friends.
One more piece of news is that our granddaughter, Autumn (Jason and Shelli’s middle child) is engaged and the wedding is scheduled for December 29 in Port Gamble, Washington. Autumn and her fiancé are both students at Montana Bible College. Aiden, her younger brother is also now attending MBC. This leaves Jason and Shelli, who just celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary, and now “empty-nesters.”
Even though we have done quite a bit of traveling we have done much here at the church. With help from some members, the parsonage is totally gutted. Our project manager who is a retired contractor is taking care of pretty much everything. I simply do as he tells me. We also have a hired worker who is also directed by our project manager. Materials have been ordered and in two weeks (approx) the entire exterior will be removed and replaced as well as all new windows.
We have asked for help from the Construction Workers Christian Fellowship (Hard Hats) and have been approved. But we have yet to get any volunteers. Please pray that we will get some Hard Hats volunteers.
In our last letter, I mentioned that I was going to take the trailer to an RV repair shop in Reno, NV. We dropped off the trailer on a Monday and they actually fixed it. I picked it up on Friday. The cost of the fix was minimal. I expected a huge bill but I was very pleasantly surprised. It wasn’t as broken as I thought it was.
Yesterday marked our one-year anniversary here at Orovada Community Church. For the past nine months, I have been seeking a new full-time pastor but have not had any applicants. We have been asking the Lord if we should accept the position. When we were here in 2015-2016 we wanted to stay but there were other family matters that we had to fulfill. Well, now that Jason and Shelli are empty-nesters they have decided to move to Knoxville, TN next year. So since we live on their property that means that we would have to move elsewhere. Since we love being here in Orovada, we took that as a “sign” from the Lord that we should stay. When I spoke with Dan (the elder) that we would like to stay permanently he was very happy. We made the announcement to the church yesterday that we would like to be the permanent pastor and everyone started clapping and cheering.
So here we will stay. We will still be with NICE as a missionary Pastor as OCC is not able to support a full-time pastor. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
It seems that all we do is physical labor. Although we do much there is also much personal ministry going on. Dayle is extremely involved with the women and the women’s mid-week bible study will resume in a couple of weeks. I am hoping to start a men’s bible study after harvest season which has just begun. I am currently preaching through Titus and in Sunday School I am continuing to teach Basic Systematic Theology.
Praise and Prayer:
~ We praise the Lord that we are going to stay in Orovada as the permanent pastor.
~ Praise the Lord that Ryan Wetterlund of Port Angeles is in remission and has returned to work.
~ Please continue to pray for Pastor Dennis McBride, Lake Havasu City, AZ. He has surgery coming up to hopefully remove the tumor on his pancreas.
~ Pray for our dear friend, Ed Ortiz of Sequim, WA. He is also undergoing cancer treatment and has much back pain.
~ Pray for the men of OCC as I continue to try to befriend them and minister to them.
One of the hard things to get used to is not being able to see all of our friends and we do miss you all very much. Please send us an email, a text, or a phone call to let us know how you are doing. Or better yet, come for a visit.
