Resurrection Day

We attended the 7 a.m. sunrise service at Bethany Bible Church. Then had breakfast then began the Easter morning service. Both Pastor Jerry and I preached messages. It was a good day!

Today, Monday, we went for a hike to the river, the Colorado River, with our friends Stan and Stephanie Broder.  We went through what is called "The Crack" which is a crack in the rocks and eventually opens up near the river.  What an interesting display of God's power and artistry.  The whole area, albeit desert, is beautiful.  Here are a few pictures of our hike.

Tomorrow I start work at the church!

Met with Pastor Jerry Adams

I spent a couple of hours with Pastor Jerry
yesterday.  We had a good time getting to know one another.  He did ask me to preach Sunday evenings beginning next Sunday.  I may also start teaching the adult Sunday School.  Tomorrow, Easter, we will be having an extended service and I will be preaching one of two messages and Pastor Jerry will preach also.  It is so good to be serving once again!

Here are some pictures of the church where will will be ministering and also of our trailer in the Havasu RV Resort.

Our 5th wheel 'home" set up in the Havasu RV Resort.

The awning walls which were give to us by Ken and Brenda Lynch.
It sure makes a huge difference in the heat.  The dog's love it too!

Heading South

Oh, what a week!   Last Friday I took the 5th wheel into the shop due to the heater not working.  Then on Monday, I went to check on the progress of the repair.  The technician told me that he will get to it in the afternoon and promised that it will be finished by Wednesday.  I again asked him to check the AC unit too.  He then told me that he already checked the heater and AC and that it was working fine.  We then went out to the trailer and sure enough, it was working just the way it is supposed to.  So why, you might ask, did I take it into the shop on Friday and lose the whole weekend?  Because I didn't fully understand how the new fangled system worked.  Well, I do now and it only cost me $75 to have a lesson on the proper care and operation of the Carrier Heater/AC unit.

So, I got the trailer home on Monday afternoon.  The first thing I did after getting it home was to rub out the scratches that I inflicted on the right side of the exterior.  When unnecessarily pulling it out of the back yard I came too close to the cherry tree.  I should have taken a lesson from George Washington, and cut down that silly tree.

Well, Dayle and I have been working about 18 hours a day for two weeks emptying out the house, loading the trailer, cleaning and painting and shampooing the carpets making the house ready for our renters who were to move in about noon today (Thursday 4/14/11).

So after getting everything done, we hooked up the trailer.  Then I did something which was actually kind of difficult for me...I took down the flags that had flown in front of our house ever since September 11, 2001.  See photos.  Taking down the flags meant that we were really leaving.

So at about 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning of the 14th of April 2011, exactly 10 years 4 months and 14 days after arriving in Klamath Falls, we departed for a new ministry.  I was filled with mixed emotions, but it is such a joy and a comfort to know that our great God is in control and that He is our guide.  As Proverbs 3:5-6 says, Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

As we headed south and saying good bye to Oregon, we stopped in Redding and met up with Ken Lynch and then on to Sacramento where we will spend a few days with Stephen and Neeley.  We plan on arriving in Lake Havasu on the 20th in time for Easter.

Please pray for travelling mercies for us and for wisdom and strength to minister to Bethany Bible Church.  Also please pray for my mother.  She was admitted to the the hospital with heart and diabetic problems.  She is not a believer.  My brother has been witnessing to her a lot lately.  Pray that her eyes will be opened to the truth.

Almost ready to roll

Counting down to roll off.  Ten more days until departure for Arizona.  We are expecting to depart on April 14th.

Over the past two weekends we had a garage sale and we sold about 90% of everything we had out.  Our house is now empty except for just a few things.  We have just the yard to spruce up, and few places in the house to paint.  We will move completely out of the house on Friday, April 8th, and into our 5th wheel.  The house carpets will be cleaned and the house will then be ready for our tenants.  Our storage unit is full and we either gave away, sold, or trashed nearly one third of all we owned.  Boy, did we have a lot of junk!

The United Evangelical Free Church, where we have been attending these past few months, is giving us a little send off next Sunday during the morning service.

We have a meeting/interview with Bob Rogers in Eugene on the 11th.  This is the second step in our application process for the Northwest Independent Church Extension (NICE) of the IFCA in order to be under their domain as "missionary pastor-at-large."  We desire for NICE to be our "boss" as they send us to churches where they think we can be of service.

We are excited about our new adventure!
